Atkinsons ultimate aim for this body of work is to enfold their audience within a space they created by combining their abstracts, to share a connection or comfort, with viewers, in the landscape they have designed. Their current work is focused on building a physical interpretation of their comfort zone through the arrangement of experimental abstracts that combine elements of painting and sculpture.

The work displayed here is one of the emotional abstracts from this series, which became a self-portrait of Atkinsons emotions over the course of its creation. As Atkinsons practice is most often informed and best developed when drawn from their own experiences and mental health, choosing a theme based around comfort has allowed them to give themselves permission to create without the pressure of perfection.
